goodbye bodie... we love you!

bodie cat... oh sweet bodie cat!

we never knew bodie as a kitten, she was our neighbour's cat when we lived in kelmarna avenue in 2003. smart as, she soon discovered a quiet refuge on our deck, away from the tail pulling of two boistrous wee boys. 'home' for tea, gradually changed to a sly 'move in', reluctant to start feeding her, we broke the rule one day when we were offered a cat bikkie freebie at the supermarket... why not we thought... it won't hurt... we started calling her rental, we didn't even know her real name, in our minds we were not doing anything wrong, we were merely renting the neighbour's cat...

two years passed and then we had to move, our landlord was selling, it was a crisis! how were we going to leave rental behind. faced with only one option, cat thieves we are not, we came clean to the neighbours, we fessed all. they laughed, they knew, they told us her name... bodicea. we thought she was a kitten, she was a lot older, they explained that she was actually kate's brothers cat, they would ring him and see if he was happy that bodicea changed homes. it was a week of anxious 'is she, isnt she', nightly conversations on the topic of catnapping, the wait finally ended, the night before we moved we got the news, the rental days were over, bodicea was to become bodi... our bodie cat.

turns out, if there was one thing bodie hated, it was change. move a chair, move a cushion, get a new piece of furniture... she hated it. oh the change she endured. the initial move to hamilton road, then on to westmere road and then to her final resting place, our own home two and a half years ago... tolerated. then, a few months later, the ultimate test of change... doyle's arrival on a sunny saturday afternoon (we had only gone out to get cat food!)... patiently tolerated.

doyle has grown up with bodie, she's been his companion, his nemisis, his teacher. we named doyle because of bodi, she was the inspiration. we altered the spelling from bodi to bodie, they were the professionals, despite their differences they made a great team.

our last photo of bodie on wednesday evening...

1pm, 27th august 2009, bodie past away in craig's arms, at home, with doyle, unassisted, it was peaceful. bodie is still with us at home, at rest under a lisbon lemon tree... she will always be with us. we miss you bodie... you changed our lives for the better, no tolerance required!

the last goodbye...

bodie was bright.
bodie was beautiful.
bodie was brave.
bodie was the best.

we loved you bodie cat, you were a great friend!

bodie's last day - a sky blue thursday

so i've been telling b & c all week that it is meant to be a sky blue day today but they just look at me blankly and said they were a bit too busy to help this week - useless... i want everyone to know i am being neglected...

their apathy has left me with no choice but to reintroduce you all to my most favourite sky blue fluffy blankie and i wish to title this solo performance "i am feeling blue, woof hoof hooo"...

now that i've got this fustrating situation off my chest i thought i had better give you all a bodie update... b & c have told me they are taking her to visit mr vetty this afternoon so she can have some peace and go to sleep...

sigh...

next week ms blue wants us to play rainbow... we think this could be very fitting

a pale pink thursday

with pale pink as our mission there can only be one thing to post about this week... the cottage we went to for my 'test' holiday to see if i am a good traveller... we think the acorn cottage is the best place on the whole planet... arf!

and it's got loads of pink...

hey b & c, i am looking for more pink...

woah i've found a stash of it... here's my dogs eye view...

laura and lloyd are the proud owners of this stunning hideaway... we are jealous... furry jealous, here i am with laura and her kids, bob, brodie and tallulah... that is brodie whispering secrets in my ear...

look at all their space... and thats only a teeny bit of it...

oh how i loved running through all that luscious grass... every morning i would run out to see my new found friends...

and the fantails would tease me... they kept wanting to land on my tail...

we did lots of sightseeing... a pink car...

and b laughed cos she noticed when i get excited in the car i poke out my pink tongue...

we even did one of my favourite things... fish & chips at the beach...

woah check out that pinkdinghy... it's a barbie boat...

back at the cottage while b & c sampled their locally sourced yummies... i had a serious session with a pink bone cut especially for me by the butcher in kerikeri - note the pink planter pot, oh so furry perfect for bone stashing...

we even had pink sunsets...

what better way to end the day...

no wait! indeed it does get better... we had a pink bed!

and on the way home after 3 days of bliss... that's me hanging out the back window doggle free...

we drove by some pink sheep... i kid you not!!

i am also furry tickled pink to announce that we are one of the first recpients of the smiling greyhound award woof hoo to us!! so remember to go visit renner and scooter at spacial peepol cos we think they have a whole lot of taste... arf arf...

a message from b:

doyle was such a great traveller he's off to the acorn cottage for 5 days over the new year... he will be stoked! i couldn't really let doyle do a pink post without the addition of the famous cadburys pinky bar, first launched to the nz market in 1961 and trust me readers, while it might have 50% less fat, this is one seriously pink sweet hit... pink marshmallow and runny caramel sauce coated in milk chocolate eek! also an update from last thursday chocolate post - yippee the power of the consumer wins with cadburys announcing they are changing their formulation back to being palm oil free! great stuff!

and last but certainly not least - thanks to all for the pawsitive powers being sent our way for poor old bodie, it saddens me to say that we are pretty certain it is a case of 'when' not 'if', she's not in any pain thanks to all the meds but she has virtually stopped eating, all we can really do is smoother her in loves, keep her comfortable and wait... it's fustrating as all her tests came back fine so we have no real idea why she has declined so quickly... we are also really worried how doyle will be without her! below is a pic of bodie last night... sadly her eyes say it all...

next week blue's challenge is gonna be sky blue...
