it was mollie's first xmas day

oh dear, its the 6th of january, a new decade, mollie has just turned 4 months and we finally get to post our xmas day... it was a biggie...

we woke really early all excited paws in the house...

we helped b trim the mollie proof tree with all our special decorations...

the heroes this year being the 'baird' vintage mercury glass birds...

and the wee chain of mercury glass balls... thanks niki & neil, they are perfect! b remembers them fondly as a wee girl on the grant xmas tree... and in the other room...

we finally had a safe place for our other glass treasures that niki & neil have given us over the years...

on our new wooden pear tree...

our pressies were opened in a blurry whirlwind of paper and tails...

a bee for mollie and a monster pull for me...

hey doyle... outside quick...

there's more...

while the neighbours blasted us with bad taste xmas music, we counteracted with woody's finer collection of xmas inspired sounds plus we had other bones to pick...

infact it was mollie's first bone ever...

arf yes...

back inside...

and full of marrow, we got comfy for more pressie action...

b's pressie to c...

elvis has left the building...

and niki and neil's...

the ever loved garden vouchers with some funky plant ties... wicked! go for the ponga guys...

hey b do you want a paw? i am after all a pretty good pressie opener...

oooo let me see, you scored a mighty fine book on baking... tasty...

and...

an original photo of your grandmama as her sister moona's bridesmaid... far out!

"funny thing is doyle, i bought this vintage xmas wreath cos the wee santa's reminded me of moona, i think she used to have some just like this on her tree"...

hey guys, you get another pressie from niki & neil?... talk about spoilt...

woof hoo...

how pawfect!!

yep doyle we were rather spoilt...

and c spoiled me even more... not just a mollie dog but a...

bedside tivoli too... nice!

while some needed naps...

mission 'grant' turkey began... b says xmas wouldn't be xmas without it...

turkey was brined and prepped, stock for the gravy was on the boil and basting sauce was at the ready...

every 10 minutes the turkey was tended...

i picked the best spot...

the pork sausage, garlic, chilli & bacon fried slowly, adding to the aromas already filling the house...

mollie soon clicked that napping wasn't so smart and she had missed her spot amongst the turkey action...

instead she had to assist with the vege prep... picking

and shelling...

back in the heat of things and while the turkey rested...

jersey bennies were added to the sausage mix... grand marnier gravy made...

the super fresh broad beans and peas were added... and we were finally good to go!...

next year c reckons he will do a duff in honor of dick bell... we will see, arf arf!

its probably as likely as b getting the xmas elves she has decided she wants next xmas...

happy xmas everyone we trust it was as pleasurable as ours...

what a wonderful post! It must have taken hours!
I just let L read it as your house is so like some friends of ours back in Edinburgh - you like similar things and would get on so well together - anyway, I was waxing lyrical about the dogs, but the only thing L was interested in ( and he spied it in the first pic!) was the wata ray gun!
ho hum!
